Shamong Township School District Christine Vespe read a statement during the June 9 board meeting, calling on educators’ duty to serve students and provide them with a safe, equitable learning environment while affording students with equal opportunities.
The district continues focusing on social-emotional learning into the summer and following school year as parents were sent letters on talking about race and other societal issues with children. Another anticipated communication is expected from Vespe containing information from guidance counselors on how to approach the conversation with children.
More information will come with age-appropriate material to further students’ understanding of the social issues.
