Obituary: Thomas J. Krainik

Thomas J. Krainik, 95, passed away on May 30 in Medford. He was preceded in death by his wife, June L. Krainik and is survived by his three children: Amy Mowbray (William), Peter Krainik (Gina), Sara Krainik and six grandchildren, Marcia Mowbray, Kelly Krainik, Anabella Mowbray, Thomas Krainik, Rebecca Krainik and Lisa Krainik.

Tom was born June 30, 1924 on a farm in Lodi, Wisconsin. He attended University of Wisconsin for one semester before entering the service in 1943. He served in Belgium, France and Germany with the 75th Division in World War II and fought in the Battle of the Bulge. He was honorably discharged in 1946 and went back to the University of Wisconsin graduating with a degree in food technology in 1949. He married June L. Martinson in November 1954, and resided in Fond du Lac, Wisconsin, where he worked for Mammoth Spring Canning Company. In 1958 they moved to Moorestown to begin a career with Campbell Soup Company, where he worked as a food technologist in the research department until his retirement in 1989. He moved to Medford in 2000.

Tom was very active in his church and community. He coached little league, led Indian Guides, was active in the Y’s Men Service Club and volunteered at Red Cross blood drives and hospice. He served as property committee chairman, lay leader, administrative board chairman, pastor parish committee member and many other positions at the First United Methodist Church in Moorestown. He volunteered and served on the Board of Moorestown Ecumenical Neighborhood Development (MEND), an affordable housing provider. He enjoyed spending time with his family and playing a daily game of cribbage with June. He also enjoyed woodworking, bowling, traveling and working in his garden.
