Grenloch Terrace Early Childhood Center kindergarten students celebrate writing achievements

Young students discover the joy of writing.

Kindergarten students in Mrs. Mailliard’s and Miss Rigby’s classes join for a group shot.

Grenloch Terrace Early Childhood Center kindergarten students in Mrs. Wendi Mailliard’s and Miss Deborah Rigby’s classes recently joined together to celebrate the completion of their “How-To” writing unit.

Students have worked tirelessly over the last month to produce an assortment of books that teach readers how to complete different activities. Book topics ranged from “How to Make a Snowman” to “How to Brush Your Teeth.”

The students then participated in a speed-sharing celebration. Each student would read a story to a student from the other class, with Miss Rigby’s class rotating while Mrs. Mailliard’s class stayed in their spot. This gave the writers a chance to share their books with multiple readers.

The newly minted writers now will continue their journey as they take what they learned from their How-To stories and apply it to their new “All-About” unit.
