George J. Honeyford died on Oct. 28 at the age of 98. George was a longtime resident of Moorestown. He was a longtime active member of the First Presbyterian Church of Moorestown where he served in many capacities over the years. He was the oldest living member and past president of the Moorestown Rotary Club. Over the years, he served as chairman (president) of United Way, member of Governor’s Commission on Human Resources, member of Moorestown’s Industrial Development Committee, member of Moorestown’s Recreation Committee, an elder with First Presbyterian Church of Moorestown and a member of the Moorestown Field Club.
He was the husband of Mildred “Mitzi “(nee Schutz) for 71 years and father of Peter Honeyford and his wife Cyndie, George Richard Honeyford and his wife Mary and Patricia Honeyford Canton and her husband Paul. He was also the grandfather of Katelyn Brady and her husband Matthew; Kelsey Honeyford; Delaney Honeyford; Elizabeth Hagan and her husband Tim; Benjamin Honeyford and his wife Angelica; Margaret Santos and her husband Inaldo; Paul Canton III and his wife Jenn; Lauren Canton Lee and her husband Brian; Peter Canton Sr and his wife Kate. George was the great-grandfather of Wyatt Brady, Emma Hagan, Andrew Hagan, Jacob Hagan, Sophia Honeyford, Juliana Honeyford, Rebekah Honeyford, Leah Santos, Luke Santos, Joseph Santos, Paul Canton IV, Wes Canton, Haines Canton, Owen Lee, Sam Lee, Campbell Lee, Charlotte Canton and Peter Canton, Jr.
A memorial service will take place on Monday, Nov. 4 at 11 a.m. at the First Presbyterian Church located at 101 Bridgeboro Road in Moorestown.
