Two Gloucester County Emergency Medical Service staff members nominated for New Jersey EMT of the Year

The winner will be announced Friday, Nov. 15 at the awards ceremony, a part of the 2019 National Conference on EMS in Atlantic City New Jersey.

Two of Gloucester County Emergency Medical Service (GCEMS) EMT’s, Amanda McCorriston and Rich Repas, have been nominated for the New Jersey EMT of the year award announced Gloucester County Freeholder Director Robert M. Damminger and Freeholder Dan Christy.

Richard Repas joined GCEMS in 2010 and became full-time in 2015. In addition to being a full-time EMT, he often assists training EMT students in the Initial EMT Training Academy. Repas provides CPR instruction to members of the public as well as other public safety providers. Repas also accepted the role of Quick Response Vehicle (QRV) EMT.

The QRV EMT arrives on-scene prior to the ambulance and initiates treatment as a single responder, potentially providing life-saving treatments and interventions to GCEMS patients in the first few critical minutes after a 9-1-1 call for assistance is received.

Amanda McCorriston became a GCEMS staff member in 2016 and moved into full-time status in 2018. She also assists training EMT students and is looking to expand her instructional talents.

Freeholder Director said, “we take great pride in the hard work our GCEMS staff puts in to keep our residents safe. To have two members of our EMS team honored on a statewide level is a tremendous achievement.”

Freeholder Dan Christy, liaison to GCEMS, said, “we are proud of all of our EMT’s and EMT’s Repas and McCorriston are tremendous assets to our team.  Both are leaders in the EMS community. Their dedication to patient care, public access to EMS, disaster preparedness, public education, and training is admirable. We are honored to have not one, but two of our great EMS staff members be nominated for this prestigious award.”

The winner will be announced Friday, Nov. 15 at the awards ceremony, a part of the 2019 National Conference on EMS in Atlantic City.
