Mantua crime report, Oct. 10 to 16

The following are on file at the Mantua Township Police Department.

 Oct. 10

  • Officers took a theft report for a vehicle that did not pay for gas at the super Wawa.
  • Units assisted a motorist that had locked their keys in their vehicle while at the Wawa store at 5 a.m.
  • Ptl. Oldrati conducted a motor vehicle stop and arrested an occupant for outstanding warrants.
  • Units responded to a domestic assault between a boyfriend and girlfriend in which the male struck the female and ran from the scene. Officers charged the male with assault and related charges.
  • Patrols responded to a minor crash in the parking lot of the Home Depot.
  • Units responded to the area of the Heritage’s Dairy Store for a domestic dispute between a male and female in which the male was bleeding. Both subjects were gone upon our arrival.
  • Officers served a restraining order against a subject that was just obtained against them by their spouse.
  • Units took a report for a violation of a restraining order and weapons were seized.

Oct. 11

  • Officers assisted Pitman Police Department with a fatal motor vehicle crash on Broadway.
  • Patrols handled several calls in Pitman including a domestic disturbance due to their officers being tied up on the aforementioned crash.
  • Officers took a criminal mischief complaint that occurred in Wenonah on a nature trail.
  • Ptl. Riepen and his K9 officer, Bane, assisted Washington Township Police Department with a missing suicidal male by attempting to track his location by his route that he left.
  • Units took a noise complaint for a dog that had been barking all day in Wenonah.
  • Patrols took a theft report for a theft of a solar system. Solar panels, not the planets.
  • Neighbors called police due to a vehicle that had a sign on its back window that stated “honk if you’re horny.” It was owned by a 17-year-old male.
  • Units took a report for a sex offense that occurred at the Gloucester County Christian School.
  • Ptl. Mroz and his K9 partner, Zuke, assisted Washington Township Police Department with a vehicle sniff during a motor vehicle stop.
  • Units responded to a single vehicle crash on Heritage Road near Bridgeton Pike in which the vehicle struck a deer.
  • Officers responded along with the fire department to a reported house fire in which smoke was coming from the basement.
  • Patrols took a theft report for a dirt bike that was stolen some time that day.
  • Units responded to a hit and run crash in which a vehicle drove through the caller’s fence.
  • Officers took an assault report for a juvenile that was assaulted during a road rage incident.

Oct. 12

  • Patrols responded to a suspicious person at Carolina Blue that said a strange remark to a patron leaving the restaurant.
  • Officers conducted their monthly car seat safety checkup at the Mantua Fire Headquarters where the public can stop in without an appointment and make sure their car seats are installed safely and correctly.
  • Officers supervised community service workers who cleaned up litter along Jackson Road.
  • Units responded to a crash on Glassboro Road in the area of Route 55 in which there was a minor injury. 
  • Patrols responded to a crash on Tylers Mill Road at Main Street.
  • Units responded to a report of shots fired in the Snowy Owl development. Officers couldn’t find anything and another neighbor reported it to sound like fireworks.

Oct. 13

  • Officers responded to the Home Depot for a report of three vehicles containing intoxicated subjects.
  • Units took a criminal mischief complaint for a vehicle that was damaged.
  • Patrols responded to a minor crash in the parking lot of the Kohls store.
  • Officers responded to a subject that had taken meth and was now hallucinating.
  • Patrols responded to a violation of a restraining order and the subject left on foot prior to our arrival. Patrols searched the area and located and arrested the subject.

Oct. 14

  • Officers responded to a racoon that was struck by a car on Wenonah Avenue by the creek bridge. 
  • Ptl. Crispin arrested a subject on active warrants. He was processed and released with a new court date.
  • Units responded to a single vehicle crash in which the vehicle overturned onto its side in the area of Jefferson Road and Jackson Road. The vehicle was removed by Tyler Mill Towing.
  • Patrols responded to a crash on Route 45 in the area of the Telford Inn.
  • Units responded to a domestic dispute in which there was just yelling between the two parties. Officers gave a courtesy transport to one subject to another location.
  • Patrols responded to a minor crash in the parking lot of the Wawa on Center Street in which one vehicle side-swiped another.
  • Units responded to a single vehicle crash on Main Street by Police Headquarters in which a deer was struck.

Oct. 15

  • Units responded to Glassboro Road at Tylers Mill Road because the traffic light was not functioning properly. County Highway was notified to respond.
  • Patrols responded to a report of a crash on Jefferson Road in the area of Jackson Road in which the vehicles motor came out. A tow truck was called for the disabled vehicle.
  • Officers took a report for illegal dumping in which the owner had tires dumped on his property.
  • Units responded to the Rite Aid on Route 45 for a commercial trash truck that had struck a wall while attempting to empty the dumpster.
  • Officers took a harassment report that had occurred at Delaware Valley Florists.
  • Patrols responded to an intoxicated male at the Walgreens store that was there to get his flu shot. He was given a courtesy transport home in town.
  • Units responded to a residence on Main Street that called because they continually find drug paraphernalia on their lawn.

Oct. 16

  • Units checked on a disabled vehicle on Glassboro Road by Route 55, but they had AAA coming.
  • Patrols responded to a minor crash involving one vehicle on Royal Oaks Drive in which the vehicle slid into the curb.
  • Officers took a report of a sexual offense that occurred in June of 2018 involving two minors.
  • Units took a fraud report involving the victims social security number.
  • Patrols responded to a two vehicle crash on Center Street in the area of New Street.
  • Officers also responded to a two vehicle crash on Glassboro Road in the area of Center Street.
  • Units responded to branches in the roadway on Center Street. Officers cleared the street.
  • Patrols responded to wires that were down in Wenonah on East Buttonwood.
  • Officers responded to one vehicle crash in which a vehicle struck a deer on Lambs Road by the super Wawa.
