Local support of the Washington Township Education Foundation’s blood drive on August 13 will not only benefit area patients in need but also will bolster the scholarship funds for selected Washington Township High School seniors. Participants are invited to sign up online at www.redcrossblood.org and enter the code WTEF to register for the blood drive that will be held from noon to 5 p.m. in the Eileen Abbott Central Administration Building (206 East Holly Avenue.) Donor totals from the event will be added to the WTHS total to increase the total scholarship monies available through the Red Cross’ high school scholarship program. Interested donors also can contact Jan Giel at (856) 589-6644 ext. 6550 to obtain an appointment.
As an added incentive, community members who present to donate blood or platelets will receive a coupon redeemable for a free medium Dunkin’ Donuts iced coffee and a classic donut. All presenting donors also will receive a $5 Amazon.com gift card via email.
“The Washington Township Education Foundation is pleased to host this blood drive as a benefit to both the American Red Cross and to our WTHS seniors,” WTEF president Charlie Doud said. “We have learned that donations often slump in the summer months. In fact, the Red Cross currently is facing an emergency blood shortage and has issued an urgent call for eligible individuals of all blood types, especially type O, to give now and help save patient lives. We urge members of our community to roll up their sleeves for this lifesaving cause.”
