Mantua Township patrol summary, July 10 – 17

The following are on file at the Mantua Township Police Department.

July 10

  • Officers responded, along with the fire department, for a gas line that was struck while work was being done on Snapdragon Court.
  • Officers assisted a homeowner who was wheelchair bound and could not reach a package that was delivered.
  • Units responded to a lawn cutting service that had broken a window and injured their child while cutting the grass.
  • Ptl. Lawrence responded to a shoplifter at the Dollar General store and made an arrest. The suspect was turned over to the county jail.
  • Officers investigated damage done at the Wenonah Swim Club overnight.
  • Units responded to a crash on Route 45 in the area of Mantua Plaza.
  • Officers served a restraining order and confiscated firearms from the defendant for safekeeping as ordered by the judge.
  • Officers took a report for fraud in which the victim gave out his name and address to a person on the internet.
  • Ptl. Hasselman conducted a motor vehicle stop and arrested two occupants for outstanding warrants. They were processed and released.
  • Officers assisted a motorist who had locked themselves out of their vehicle while at the Wine Warehouse.
  • Special Officer Wolfsgruber conducted a motor vehicle stop and arrested an occupant for an outstanding warrant. He posted bail and was released.

July 11

  • Units responded to a two-vehicle crash on Barnsboro Road in the area of Jefferson Road.
  • Officers investigated a possible violation of a restraining order.
  • Patrols responded to a resident who thought their trash cans were stolen, but the officer was able to locate them.
  • Units responded to a two-vehicle crash on Glassboro Road in the area of Bethel Mill Animal Hospital.
  • Officers investigated a person who left a suicide note and walked away from the house. Canine Units attempted to track them. They later voluntarily returned home.
  • Units responded to a crash on Glassboro Road in Wenonah where both vehicles needed to be towed.
  • Officers responded to a suspicious phone call pretending to be the Social Security Administration notified the caller that their identification has been compromised.
  • Officers assisted a motorist who had locked their keys in their vehicle at the Dollar Tree store.
  • Units took a report in which the caller believes his cell phone was “hacked” and needed a report for the cell phone carrier.

July 12

  • Officers responded to a subject who had overdosed in the parking lot of a local business in the middle of the night. They were taken to the hospital.
  • Units responded to a neighbor complaint.
  • Officers responded to a hit-and-run crash in the Stellato Boys produce on Glassboro Road where a parked car was struck.
  • Officers also responded to the Kohl’s parking lot where a parked car was struck.
  • Units took a report for a female who was victim of a telephone scam in which the caller claimed to be the IRS and there was a warrant for her arrest.
  • Patrols responded to a minor crash in the parking lot of the Timberline Shopping Center.
  • Officers took a fraud report in which there were unauthorized transactions on a victim’s cell phone account.

July 13

  • Officers conducted their monthly car seat safety checks at the Mantua Fire House where anyone can stop in and get their car seats checked to make sure they are installed safely.
  • Units responded to a crash in which a vehicle struck a mailbox.
  • Units supervised community service workers who cleaned up litter along Jackson Road.
  • Officers responded to a subject who had overdosed and CPR was being performed.
  • Units assisted a motorist who had thought they locked their keys in their vehicle while at The Home Depot. Officers responded and found the passenger door to be unlocked.
  • Officers conducted bike patrol in various neighborhoods during the overnight hours.

July 14

  • Sgt. Murphy responded to a report of an erratic driver and arrested the operator for DUI.
  • Units responded to a dispute between a couple in which the male left with the house keys leaving the female locked out.
  • Officers supervised community service workers who cleaned up litter along Route 45.
  • Ptl. Oldrati conducted a motor vehicle stop in Wenonah and arrested three occupants for drug related charges.
  • Ptl. Schnarr responded to a report of juveniles who had just spray-pained Sewell School. The officer located the juveniles and brought them to headquarters where their parents were notified.

July 15

  • Officers took a harassment complaint in which the victim signed complaints against the accused.
  • Units responded to a single-vehicle crash in which a vehicle struck a speed limit sign on Harrison Avenue.
  • Units responded to a vehicle that had its window broken from a piece of debris that had fallen from a vehicle in front of him.
  • Units responded to a subject who was in crisis and needed to go to the hospital for treatment.

July 16

  • Officers responded to a vehicle that was damaged by another vehicle’s door. Parties agreed to handle it through insurance companies.
  • Ptl. Mroz conducted a motor vehicle stop and arrested the driver for driving while his license was suspended for DUI. They were processed and released.
  • Units investigated the wellbeing of a person who has not been heard from for over a year.
  • Patrols responded to a code enforcement complaint of trailers and unregistered vehicles on the roadway in violation of the township ordinance on Willowbend Drive.
  • Patrols responded, along with the fire department, for a brush fire in the area of Smiths Funeral Home.
  • Officers assisted N.J. State Police with a crash on Route 55.
  • Patrols responded to a crash on Mt. Royal Road in the area of Skyline Circle.
  • Units checked a residence where a teenager was home alone and thought she heard someone in the house. Units checked everywhere and the house was secure.
  • Ptl. Krieger arrested a subject on an outstanding warrant. They were processed and released.

July 17

  • Units took possession of a wallet that was found at Total Turf. Contact was made to the owner and he came into the station later in the day to retrieve his wallet.
  • Officers responded to the Wenonah Swim Club for a trespassing complaint.
  • Patrols responded to a gas leak at the Lowe’s store.
  • Officers responded to a box truck that had struck a street sign at Willowbend Drive and Mt. Royal Road.
  • Officers assisted N.J. State Police with a crash on Route 55 with reported entrapment.
  • Patrols responded to a small brush fire in the Timberline Shopping Center.
  • Officers assisted West Deptford police with a crash and subsequent fight near the ShopRite.
  • Patrols responded to about nine calls for service all related to the thunderstorm. Most of the calls dealt with trees and wires down in the roadway.
  • Patrols took a theft complaint where the homeowner believes a contractor stole items from their house.
