Character Camp to teach Moorestown youth life skills

“What the world doesn’t need is people with more skills, talents and abilities, but rather people with skills, talents and abilities that have Character,” said Jonathan M. Leath, father of four and founder of Character Camp. Character Camps are not new ideas and are very common throughout the country, but Leath’s take is a little different. His Character Camps bring corporate professionals, business consultants and specialists together to train 10 to 15-year-old children with the same level of services that they would give to Fortune 500 companies and deliver them on a child’s level.

Over the last three years, the camp has grown from 8 students to 28 students. Most are from New Jersey but two students, who were spending time with relatives, enrolled in the camp while on summer break. Leath is practicing what he preaches because his 17-year old Moorestown High School junior, Jael, is the camp co-director, his two sons, a sixth grader at UES and eighth grader at WAMS are the camp counselors and his 6-year old preschooler is the camp’s mascot.

Character Camp is a five-day, four-hour program which mixes activities, classroom learning, interactive games and fun all together in a way that children learn valuable skills they can put into practice right away The cost is $125.00. Topics include: “Winning the War on Social Media,” “Leadership 101,” “Finding Your ‘Why,’” “6 Pillars of Character,” “Understanding Your Identify,””Conflict Management.”

They are running two Character Camps.  Session 1 took place on Monday, July 8 thru Friday, July 12 and Session 2 will take place on July 22 to July 26 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Maranatha Christian Fellowship located at: 802 North Lenola Road, Moorestown, NJ 08057.  To register your child or to sponsor a child, contact Jonathan M. Leath (856)234-3791 or email [email protected].
