The following submission is from Evesham Mayor Jaclyn Veasy:
Happy Fourth of July!
I hope you had a great holiday and thank you to everyone who helped put on our Fourth of July events in town. It was great to see so many Evesham families celebrating together.
It is not lost on me that we are able to enjoy our freedoms because of the sacrifice of our bravest heroes. To all the men and women who have served in our military or continue to serve – thank you. I will always remember your service and sacrifice so our families can be safe and free.
We are also proud to report that the first meeting of the disability and veterans advisory board will commence on July 9.
We have an incredible group of community leaders who will be working to establish new programming and resources.
We thank them for their time and look forward to hearing their ideas.
As we move through summer, I also want to take a moment to update you on what is happening in town.
Many of you know our Chief Financial Officer, Tom Shanahan, and our Township Manager, Michael Barth, are retiring.
I want to take a moment to publicly thank them for their tireless service and commitment to our community.
As I have lived in this town my whole life, I can say we have been extremely well served by our past and current township employees.
We are very grateful to have some of the best employees in the state.
As is the case at every level of government, you are seeing long planned and well-deserved retirements.
As for the great town of Evesham, we are truly lucky our future retirees are helping transition to the person who will be chosen to follow in their footsteps.
It is also exciting that we have the opportunity to welcome new talent and new ideas that will help shepherd our town into the future.
Thank you again for allowing me to be your mayor.
Please reach out to us should you need assistance.
