The Delran Municipal Green Team will be holding a series of informative and environmentally awareness related talks on Mondays at the Throwback’s Bar and Grill on Route 130 in Delran. From June 24 to Aug. 19, the Green Team members have invited several experts to share their knowledge with the residents of Burlington County on a variety of topics.
On June 24, Jerry DeSanto, Delran Township’s Recycling Coordinator, will explain the inner workings of recycling. On July 8, George Sereduk, a local beekeeper, will talk about the large jobs of small insects. Next, Julia Mooney, a local teacher in the Moorestown school district, will speak about her story “One Dress, One Hundred Days.” Mooney will discuss the reason she chose the project, her national news and all the environmental things that go into making one article of clothing.
On Aug. 5, Elsie Gould will join the Green Team and demonstrate her “Tower Gardening.” This demonstration will include showing how planting vertically versus horizontally saves space. Lastly, Mike Haberland from the Rutgers Extension Service will talk about the problems associated with stormwater runoff and how to construct a rain garden.
Come out, buy a drink, maybe some food, and listen to a speaker who will enlighten you to issues we should all care about. The Green Team will be there at 6:30 p.m. each Monday and the speakers will begin at 7 p.m.
