On Monday, Sept. 2, Mt. Laurel FOP Lodge No. 191 is set to host its second annual 5K Run and One-Mile Dog Walk to raise funds to support the Mt. Laurel Township Police Department’s K-9 program.
The MLPD K-9 Unit is fully funded by donations.
According to the FOP, proceeds from this event will help with feeding, veterinary care, training and equipment expenses for Gunner and Nina — the department’s two K-9s.
During the event, police K-9s will be present for a meet and great.
A portion of the proceeds of the event will also be donated to the United States Police Canine Association, region No. 15, which represents police dogs throughout New Jersey.
The entire run will be within Laurel Acres Park on Sept. 2 from 8:30 to 11 a.m. The event will feature Bib Chip Timing by South Jersey Race Timing.
The one-mile walk will begin a few minutes later at 8:35 a.m.

Awards will be presented for the first overall male and female in each age group. Age groups are 12 and younger, 13 to 19, 20 to 29, 30 to 39, 40 to 49, 50 to 59 and 60 and older.
Awards will also be presented to the first overall male and female first responder (Police/Fire/EMS)
T-Shirts will be available to the first 100 registrants.

Packet pick up will be in the lobby at Mt. Laurel Police Headquarters, 100 Mount Laurel Road, on: Friday, Aug. 30, from 6 to 8 p.m. and on Saturday, Aug. 31, from 10 a.m. to noon.
