Mayor’s Message: Connolly Park plans

We are proud of all of our parks in Voorhees Township, particularly the evolution of Connolly Park over the last decade.

Voorhees Township Mayor Michael Mignogna

We are proud of all of our parks in Voorhees Township, particularly the evolution of Connolly Park over the last decade.

Connolly Park, located along Centennial Blvd., is a 49-acre oasis. Acquired by the township in 2001, it contains a half-mile lit walking and jogging track with eight workout stations, a large grass field for multi-sport usage, a cricket pitch with synthetic turf, three open-air picnic pavilions and a comfort station with restrooms. A community playground was installed in 2010 and new picnic tables have been added to the park. This year the playground pavilion will be expanded. Connolly Park is also the venue for our Summer Concert Series.

Connolly Park will soon be home to “Jakes Place,” an inclusive playground where children of all abilities can play together.

The park is also home to two enclosed dog runs, one for large dogs and one for small dogs, with nearby water fountains and pet waste bag dispensers. Children under the age of 16 cannot be left unattended in the dog runs. The park is open every day from dawn until dusk.

To ensure the safety of our residents enjoying Connolly Park and throughout our community, Township Ordinance 92.21 mandates that no dog or cat shall run at large. Dogs must be on a leash and controlled while walking to and from the dog park. Ordinance 92.22 requires that the dog’s owner must be able to control the animal when on a leash.

Dogs are not permitted to run free anywhere in the township except when in the gated dog parks and only when accompanied by their owner. If dogs or cats are seen roaming unattended, call the police non-emergency number at (856) 428-5400. If the animal appears dangerous or poses a threat, call 911.

All dogs and cats residing in Voorhees must be licensed. For information about such licenses, contact the Township Clerk at (856) 429-7757 or visit our web page at www.voorheesnj.com.

To report maintenance issues at Connolly Park or any of our parks, call (856) 428-5499 or email [email protected].

Enjoy Connolly Park!
