New Mt. Laurel board member sworn in at Lenape Regional District meeting

Marc Jones, now formerly of the Mt. Laurel Schools BOE, was appointed as the LRHSD board's newest Mt. Laurel representative.

Marc R. Jones was sworn in as the newest Mt. Laurel BOE representative to the Lenape Regional High School District Board of Education.

At the most recent Lenape Regional High School District Board of Education meeting, Marc Jones took the oath of office to be sworn in as the district’s newest Mt. Laurel representative.

Jones is resigning his role on the Mt. Laurel Schools BOE to join the LRHSD board, filling the seat previously held by John Jeffers, who retired in February.

As stated in a press release from the district, he has been a member on the Mt. Laurel board for the past nine years, holding the role of president from 2016 to 2018 and vice president from 2014 to 2016. During his time there, he oversaw many initiatives, including Vision 2030, and the passing of a public vote allowing the district to expand to all-day kindergarten, refinance debt and modernize facilities.

“I want to serve the community in a way that I can make a real impact, and I think that my skills, interests and experience serving on the Mount Laurel Board will help me do just that in my new role on the Lenape Regional Board,” Jones said in the release.

Jones is a full-time practicing litigation attorney with Cipriani & Werner, P.C. in Mt. Laurel. His professional career began with CIGNA Group Insurance after graduating from Penn State University in 1994, with a B.A. in international politics. He then attended law school in the evenings and graduated from Temple University Beasley School of Law with a J.D. in 2001, according to the press release provided by the district.

All three of his sons attend Lenape district schools. His foster son Paul is a senior at Shawnee High School and his other two twin sons, Dylan and Dominic, attend Lenape High School as freshmen.

For the past 12 years, his wife has worked as a family and consumer sciences teacher at Lenape High School.

“Marc is a strong addition to our board; he brings valuable professional skills, previous board experience and multiple perspectives as a parent of district students, the husband of a teacher, and as a community member,” LRHSD Superintendent Carol Birnbohm said in the release.
