Mayor’s Message: Roads Program updates, ‘Coffee with the Mayor’, and small group budget meetings

The weekly message from Mayor Joann Gattinelli

Roads Program updates

I would like to report that winter in Washington Township has allowed us to continue critical facility and infrastructure improvements. At the Hurffville-Grenloch Baseball Complex, field fencing improvements are well underway and we are excited about starting the new season with parking and fencing upgrades as well as the recently added and long awaited guiderail. This provides a major safety improvement to the site and also shows our commitment to investing in our children. Public works and the baseball representatives will continue to communicate to help improve our facilities.

Major erosion concerns along the backside of Barclay Drive and Lippizzan have been improved to prevent damage to private property. Final restoration awaits spring-time weather conditions.

All roadway improvements planned for spring have been in design and we will be soliciting public bids shortly.

‘Coffee with the Mayor’

I would like to remind the residents of Washington Township that I continually host ‘Coffee with the Mayor’ every third Thursday of the month at the Washington Township municipal building. The purpose of these meetings is to discuss constructive, positive ideas with me, in order to better the township. These conversations will be held the third Thursday of every month and are limited to thirty minutes, starting at 8 a.m.. Each conversation will have a maximum of three residents, who must sign up in advance and send one or two questions, in advance, to focus the discussion and allow me to prepare information to discuss. The deadline to sign up and send questions is noon on the Monday before each Thursday’s meeting time. Please contact my confidential aide, Alicia Marini at (856) 589–0575 or at [email protected].

Small group budget meetings

Once again, my administration is offering small group budget meetings for residents to ask any questions they have or to offer any constructive ideas they may have regarding the 2019 municipal budget. Our business administrator, along with our chief financial officer, and assistant chief financial officer, will be hosting these small group meetings. For your convenience, we are offering a variety of dates and times for these budget meetings. We ask that you contact the business administrator’s administrative assistant, Lori Morello, to register for your preferred meeting date. Lori can be reached at [email protected]. You can visit our website at www.twp.washington.nj.us for the meeting dates; they will be listed under the “calendar” section. Also listed on the calendar, you will find two open public budget meetings for all residents to attend; no sign ups necessary for these two meetings. We look forward to hearing some constructive ideas from the residents of Washington Township.

Joann Gattinelli is the Mayor of Washington Township. She can be reached at [email protected].
