Evesham Police arrest man for allegedly using fake check to buy $52,000 Rolex watch

The following information is on file with the Evesham Township Police Department:

On Jan. 10, investigators with the Evesham Township Police Department responded to the Bernie Robbins Jewelry Store, 500 S. Route 73, for a theft complaint.

According to police, employees advised an ETPD detective that a male had allegedly utilized a fictitious check to purchase a $52,000 Rolex watch on Jan. 9.

Police say one they had confirmed that the male had utilized a fictitious check, ETPD investigators determined that the male was currently inside a casino in Atlantic City.

The Evesham detective traveled to Atlantic City, and with the assistance of the New Jersey State Police, the male was located and arrested without incident.

Police say $23,300 in cash was seized from the male’s person, but the Rolex was not located.

Arrested:

A male, age 29, of Staten Island, N.Y., was charged with third-degree theft by deception. He was lodged in the Burlington County Jail.
