In addition to other returning members, newly elected Shamong representative Samuel Green was sworn in for his new term.

This week’s reorganization meeting for the Lenape Regional High School District Board of Education featured the swearing in ceremony for several of the board’s returning faces, in addition to one new face.
District business administrator and board secretary Constance Stewart swore in returning Medford Lakes representative Steve Lee and returning Medford representative Allison Eckel, while the board also welcomed the newly elected Samuel Green as he was sworn in to represent Shamong.
Mt. Laurel representative John Jeffers, who also won reelection in November, was not present at the meeting to be sworn in for his new term. The board also once again selected Margaret Estlow of Woodland as the board’s president for the year, with Barry Fitzgerald of Evesham as the board’s vice president.
As for the board’s newest face, Green will fill the seat vacated by former Shamong representative Ted Shinske, who served on the board from 1997 through the end of 2018.
Earlier last year, Shinske made the decision to retire from the board at the end of 2018 and forgo running in the November election.
With that, Green decided to run for the seat, and he was on the November ballot unopposed.
According to the district, Green has lived in Shamong for more than 16 years, and his children have all attended or currently attend Seneca High School.
Green’s daughter Rachel, now at Rutgers University, graduated from Seneca in 2018, while his daughter Lauren is a junior at Seneca and his son Joshua is a freshman.
Green and his wife Kathleen can also regularly been seen attending football, swimming and volleyball events at Seneca to cheer on their children.
According to district officials, Green is also a former student of the LRHSD, having graduated Lenape High School in 1985.
“I am excited to join the school board to contribute to my community, my alma mater and my children’s school district,” Green said. “I value the combination of quality, caring teachers and great educational curriculum, including affordable CAP courses, made available to our students through Lenape Regional. I am grateful for the opportunity to give back to the district and help maintain its reputation for excellence.”
Estlow, once again seated as board president for the year, also praised Green for choosing to serve on the board.
“Sam will be a great addition to our board of education,” Estlow said. “We know that Sam will bring excitement and enthusiasm to the role, especially since he is an alumnus of the school district and is engaged as a proud parent of Seneca students.”
LRHSD Superintendent Carol Birnbohm also said the board and district were grateful for Green choosing to serve the LRHSD community.
“Sam’s participation in our community engagement meeting, as part of the strategic planning process, demonstrates his commitment to our district’s strong future,” Birnbohm said.
According to the district, Green is a 2000 graduate of Hahnemann Medical College within the Drexel University College of Medicine.
Officials say he has worked as a nationally certified physician assistant for more than 18 years, having worked with the Regional Orthopedic Professional Association in Cherry Hill and Washington Township for nearly 11 years.
