Christmas tree collection starts in January

Public works will begin collecting old trees on Jan. 7

Although many of us wish we could hold on to our Christmas decorations for another month, if you have a natural tree in your home it’s best to get rid of it as early in the month of January as possible.

According to the National Fire Protection Association, a number of different factors contribute to increased risk of fire during winter months. Among these risk factors are old Christmas trees. The NFPA suggests getting rid of your tree shortly after Christmas, or as soon as it starts drying out.

According to Cinnaminson Township’s homepage, public works will start collecting Christmas trees for recycling starting Jan. 7 through Jan. 31. The township requests that residents remove all lights, stands and tree bags before placing their tree on the curb for collection.
