Public works will be collecting trees throughout the month.
Although many of us wish we could hold on to our Christmas decorations for another month, if you have a natural tree in your home it’s best to get rid of it as early in the month of January as possible.
According to the National Fire Protection Association, a number of different factors contribute to increased risk of fire during winter months. Among these risk factors are old Christmas trees. The NFPA suggests getting rid of your tree shortly after Christmas, or as soon as it starts drying out.
According to the Borough of Palmyra homepage, public works will be collecting Christmas trees during the entire month of January. All households except Palmyra Harbour should place their tree at the curb for collection.
Residents in Palmyra Harbour should place trees on the far right corner facing the river in the clubhouse parking lot.
The borough requests residents remove all ornaments, lights and stands before placing their tree on the curb.
