Begg discusses the recent election.
The people have spoken. By a significant majority, they voted for candidates they thought would best protect their interests and do the work they were sent to Washington to do. The Democrats now have control over the House of Representatives. Many of them regard this as a mandate to concentrate all their efforts on investigating the President and his minions.
But is this what the people want? My take is that the people want a government that is responsive to their needs. They want a government that promotes clean jobs through innovation; protects their affordable healthcare, their Medicare and Medicaid; the quality of the air they breathe and the water they drink. Foremost, they want a government that respects the Constitution of the United States, a government that works with other nations to prevent a third world war and protect our ailing planet from further environmental tragedies.
The House of Representatives has a duty to protect the Mueller investigation, but impeaching President Trump might best be set aside at a moment when both sides of the aisle should work together on issues that most concern the American people.
