Rebellion retains perfect record following Pitman win

Five players each scored at least one goal in the 6–0 win.

The Mantua Rebellion defeated the Pitman Mountain Cats, 6–0, on Nov. 3, in a South Jersey Girls Soccer League U-9 game.

Addison Staszewski got the offense rolling with the first goal of the game by knocking a loose ball inside the 18-yard box past the Pitman goalkeeper. Avelin Wells added the second tally of the game, while Chelsea Volfson provided the next two goals for the Rebellion. Francesco LaGuarina and Riley Rosauer chipped in with two goals after halftime to cap the scoring.

Lilly Cini and Staszewski combined to make four saves as they split time in goal. Mya Cammarata had an outstanding game on offense, while Lilly McNamara and Lily Clerval each had a great performance for the Rebellion, who improved to 8–0.

They travel on Nov. 10 to face the Gateway Blue Lightning.

“It was great to see a lot of different girls score goals, and for other players to share the ball,” Rebellion assistant coach Patrick Wells said. “The coaching staff was very happy with the defense that limited the chances Pitman got, and our goalies, who took care of any shots that got through. It was another fantastic effort by the entire team.”
