Letter to the editor: Vote for Veronica and John Parker for Eastern BOE

Writer Ewa Tzaferos sees the Parkers as ready to bring innovative thinking, positive change to Eastern

It is my utmost pleasure and honor to share with you what I have learned about Veronica and John Parker’s virtues throughout the years of our friendship. What I constantly see and admire about this dynamic couple is that they always jump at the opportunity to offer help wherever needed. I wholeheartedly believe in their readiness to bring innovative thinking and positive changes to the Eastern High School Board of Education.

I have seen them lead, get involved in service for the community, and bring leading edge solutions to the table. They are great listeners and equally great learners. They are excellent at setting goals and reaching them. It’s a pleasure to see them work as a team, bounce ideas off each other, debate in any given circumstance and always deliver amazing results.

They understand parents’ concerns and challenges when it comes to the rapidly changing demands in education. Having three children ages 11–15 in the Voorhees school district, they see firsthand the issues that could happen. They realize that communication with parents is key and they are looking to improve it when elected.

I am thrilled at the possibility of Veronica and John serving on Eastern High School’s BOE, even though my children are only 9 and 7. John and Veronica will bring their extensive knowledge and experience to enhance the system moving forward, just in time for when my girls step into that building.

I know that another very important issue for them is school safety. They have already met with the Voorhees Police Department and are volunteers for the Voorhees School Safety & Security Committee. Together, with teachers and citizens, they exchange ideas about safety and will work tirelessly to increase the security in our schools.

For those who might not know their credentials, John and Veronica have an impressive volunteering background. Veronica’s school involvements have been: room parent, health fair and science day presenter, fundraising and teacher appreciation planning, just to name a few. Veronica has been frequently published in scientific journals, and also featured in popular blogs and magazines (Shape, Elite Daily, Bustle, Yogapedia, Pop Sugar, Thrive Global and more). Her expertise on mental, physical and spiritual health is highly valued and renowned.

She is an incredible leader, entrepreneur, small business owner, meditation/yoga teacher and an iTunes podcast creator (Live Your Happy Now). She is very successful at helping people tap into their best potential through private life-coaching sessions and wellness workshops that she facilitates regularly.

What I loved hearing in Veronica’s introduction during the PFA Meet & Greet event at VMS is that she considers education to be “the doorway to open up limitless possibilities.” This is exactly why I am confident she will further inspire others to effect change in service to our children. I have seen it time and time again what this powerhouse of a woman can achieve when she pours her heart into it. I am here to tell you that her heart is fully invested in serving on Eastern High School BOE.

Outside of school, John and Veronica are devoted volunteers at American Association for Cancer Research, where John serves as a Chairman of the Friends of the AACR “Party with a Purpose” and has helped raise more than $7 million to eradicate cancer. John also serves on the Virtua Foundation Board, which is the philanthropic arm of the Virtua Foundation fulfilling the unmet needs of many underprivileged South Jersey residents. He is recognized as a Premier Advisor by Wells Fargo, and one of the most successful financial planners in the country (according to Barrons and Financial Times).

John’s vision for Eastern is to ensure fiscal responsibility and high quality education. He is very skilled at bringing people together and brainstorming ideas. He has a natural gift to ask key questions empowering people he is working with to find solutions they were not previously aware of. The level of his insights, intuition and situational assessment is exceptional. John is a forward-thinker and his eternal positivity is contagious. Things simply get done when John is involved.

Both John and Veronica will individually bring so many amazing qualities to the Eastern High School BOE. While working together as a team, these qualities will be greatly amplified. What Veronica and John are capable of contributing to our community through their volunteer work is a true gift for all residents of Voorhees and their families.

I am beyond grateful that they have made the decision to run and I am very proud to vote for them on Nov. 6. If you also believe it’s TIME 4 CHANGE, then I encourage you to vote for them as well and spread the word to your friends and families. You can find them on the ballot as #4 and #5 under Regional Members Board of Education.

Thank you so much!
Ewa Tzaferos
