Knobloch retires as the state’s all-time leader in wins for a head coach in girls lacrosse with 580 victories.
The winningest head coach in New Jersey girls lacrosse history has announced she is retiring as the coach of Moorestown.
Moorestown High School confirmed on Friday morning that legendary coach Deanna Knobloch will be retiring as a coach after 27 years at the helm. Knobloch will be leaving the Quakers with an all-time record of 580–46–4 and as the winningest coach all-time in the state.
Moorestown is the winningest lacrosse program in the nation over the last 19 years with a 93 percent winning percentage and has captured the Tournament of Champions title 15 times, including 10 straight from 2000 to 2009. Additional accolades under Knobloch include the longest consecutive winning streak for a NJ team (88 games from 2012 to 2015) and the most consecutive wins versus NJ teams (228 games from 2000 to 2010).
In addition, after 10 plus years together, coaches KC Knobloch, Courtney Darling, and Tara Warner will also be leaving the program. The Knobloch’s will spend their time traveling to see their son and daughter play lacrosse at Moorestown High School and James Madison University, while Coach Darling is taking time for her young family and Coach Warner has committed to other opportunities outside of lacrosse.
In an email to The Sun on Thursday evening, KC Knobloch called their decision “extremely tough,” but added he and Deanna would always put their kids first and not being able to see them play was “not an option.”
