Officials say the act shows support for those who are fighting, who have won the battle and those who have passed due to cancer.
Various members of the Evesham Township Police Department have purchased a pink badge to wear throughout the month of October to show their support for breast cancer research.
According to the department, the act shows support for those who are fighting, who have won the battle and those who have passed due to cancer.
“I am proud of our officers who have purchased a pink badge with their own funds in order to bring breast cancer awareness and all other types of cancer to our community,” Evesham Chief of Police Christopher Chew said.
According to the department, the badges were purchased by the individual members wearing them, with the proceeds set to benefit breast cancer research.
The department also cited the following statistics regarding breast cancer, with an estimated 266,120 new cases of invasive breast cancer are expected to be diagnosed in women in the United States in 2018, with 63,960 new cases of non-invasive breast cancer. About 2,550 new cases of invasive breast cancer are expected to be diagnosed in men in 2018.
