Visual Urban Renewal & Transformation is the charity partner for the event this year.
In late 2017, Chopper’s Hatchet House, an ax throwing venue, opened its doors in Cherry Hill seeking an escape from the mundane.
Since that opening, thousands have tried their hand at this growing sport, some have joined leagues and a few have excelled onto the world’s stage as top throwers in the sport.
Choppers is holding an NATF sanctioned tournament from Oct. 26 through Oct. 28 known as The Choptober Challenge. Competitors will be descending on the Cherry Hill area from all over the USA and Canada for their chance at the largest cash prize for this sport to date: $7,500.
Spanning three days of skills competitions and a double elimination tournament, this one will go down in the history books.
Visual Urban Renewal & Transformation is the charity partner for this event. VURT was started by local artists and advocates aiming to bring art, inspiration and hope to areas often overlooked. One of these areas is youth that do not get artistic exposure or direction due to lack of funding. VURT holds free “stART’r Brush” classes for these kids to lean, thrive and be productive in their communities. Classes will be held at Chopper’s Hatchet House and future dates will be on their website.
