Cherry Hill school officials unveil plans for three question, $210 million bond referendum

Cherry Hill voters will have a big decision to make in a little more than two months as they head to the polls to cast a vote in a three questions, $210 million bond referendum for Cherry Hill Public Schools. The Cherry Hill Board of Education approved a resolution choosing Dec. 11 as the date for the referendum and district officials gave a presentation previewing the proposed questions.

CHSEPTA voices opposition to district’s new SEPAG

A group of Cherry Hill parents have expressed their displeasure with Cherry Hill Public Schools’ formation of a new special education parent advisory board. On Sept. 18, the district announced the formation of a new group about a month after Cherry Hill Special Education PTA filed a complaint over not being able to have input on district issues. CHSEPTA officials say they believe the district is marginalizing the special education community.

September Athlete of the Month: Zach Bruno pouring in the goals for Cherry Hill West boys soccer

It didn’t take long for Cherry Hill High School West boys soccer’s Zach Bruno to top his goal scoring total from last year. In the Lions’ first game of the season, Bruno tallied four goals in a win over Winslow Township. He has since scored five more times to become one of the top offensive players in the Olympic Conference. Bruno’s efforts make him The Sun’s Athlete of the Month for September.

Cherry Hill Township Council adopts municipal budget with no tax increase

Cherry Hill Township municipal taxes are staying flat yet again as township council adopted its Fiscal Year 2019 municipal budget during a special meeting on Friday, Sept. 21. Council unanimously adopted a budget of a little less than $71 million dollars. It is the seventh consecutive year the township has either had no municipal tax increase or a tax cut.

Duplex fire displaces 11 Cherry Hill residents

A number of Cherry Hill residents were forced out of their home last weekend following a fire at an Orchard Avenue duplex. Cherry Hill fire units were dispatched to the home at about 12:15 p.m. last Sunday afternoon. The blaze was brought under control in about 30 minutes and there were no injuries, but 11 people were displaced from their home due to fire, smoke and water damage.
