This program will help empower children in grades two through five to make healthier food choices and learn new exercise options.
The Katz JCC in Cherry Hill is offering a free small group wellness program for children starting this fall.
The Katz JCC’s nutritionist and certified fitness instructors are teaming up to empower children to make healthier food choices and learn new and exciting exercise options in a free program called S.U.G.A.R. (Start Up Good and Right). This class is open to kids in the community, grades two through five.
In the program’s four-week sessions, participants will experience four different 30-minute exercise classes such as boot camp, boxing, yoga or cycling, followed by fun nutrition-centered activities and games. Kids will try new foods, snacks and recipes with some of the nutrition activities.
“We are thrilled to be offering a class that aims to build healthy habits that children can bring with them into adulthood,” said Jayne Miller-Morgan, Katz JCC Wellness Program Director. “Because this program was generously sponsored by the Horizon Foundation for New Jersey, we are able to offer this class for free to children in the community.”
There is an upcoming trial class and information session on Wednesday, Sept. 26 from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the Katz JCC. There are two four-week sessions coming up this fall, also taking place on Wednesday evenings from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. from Oct. 3 to Oct. 24 and Nov. 7 to Nov. 28. Space is limited.
