Letter writer says the chain will adversely affect quality of life.
As many residents should be aware, Royal Farms has made a large concerted effort to bring their convenience store/gasoline stations into our area. While there is nothing wrong with competition, there is definitely a lack of thought in their planning a location adjacent to the Strawbridge Lake area and the countless residences that make up part of this community.
A project such as this is a threat to human health and public safety as well as the welfare of local wildlife. We can only anticipate the adverse environmental effects of a 14 pump gas station in close proximity to hundreds of homes and the Lake.
This is proposed where Route 38, Church and Fellowship converge. The navigational design of this intersection and the build-up of the area over the years has created a traffic nightmare which is waiting to be addressed by the NJDOT with total restructuring of the lanes and widening of adjacent roadways. We must also consider the value of neighboring residential properties.
In total, 10 plus variances are requested which includes locating the gas station in an area not permitted for this type of business.
The hearing is currently scheduled for 7:30 p.m. on Sept. 18 at Moorestown Town Hall. Anyone within an interest in Moorestown and its future should attend and voice their opinion at this meeting.
We should be proud of how Moorestown has developed over the years and the value we place in our institutions and quality of life here. This proposal clearly violates the integrity of our neighborhoods without fulfilling any community need, and this township needs to consider the detrimental effect it would have on our quality of life.
