Mantua Rebellion wins first game of the season

The girls quickly took the lead to beat Medford Pride and improve their record.

The Mantua Rebellion U-9 girls’ soccer team kicked off its season in grand fashion with a 3–1 victory over the Medford Pride in a South Jersey Soccer League game.

Alexa Goldstein put the Rebellion on the board with a goal midway through the first half to tie the game at 1–1. Sarah Foster scored to give the Rebellion a 2–1 lead at halftime, while Riley Rosauer added an insurance goal in the second half, making the score 3–1.

Goalie Avelin Wells made four saves in goal in the first half, and Foster stopped three shots in the second half for the Rebellion, who improved to 1–0. Lily Cini, Emma Burdey, and Madalyn Worst turned in outstanding performances in the win.

The Rebellion travel next to face Washington Township on Saturday.
