Scott Martin, senior vice president of Markeim Chalmers real estate firm in Cherry Hill, has been appointed to the Philadelphia Coaches vs. Cancer Executive Committee.
The organization, which is a nationwide collaboration between the American Cancer Society and the National Association of Basketball Coaches, provides awareness and raises funds to directly support of the society’s mission — to save lives by helping people stay well and get well, by finding cures and by fighting back.
According to the association’s web site, the Coaches vs. Cancer Council was formed in 1998 by a group of NABC member basketball coaches, American Cancer Society volunteers and business leaders from across the country. The purpose is to explore new and innovative ways to raise funds, recruit prominent coaches, enhance the program and help win the fight against cancer. The organization adds that the initiative leverages the personal experiences, community leadership and professional excellence of basketball coaches nationwide to increase cancer awareness and promote healthy living through year-round awareness efforts, fundraising activities and advocacy programs.
“I am honored to be part of such a distinguished and dedicated group,” Martin said. “Coaches vs. Cancer is an organization I have respected and supported for years. I look forward to furthering its outreach mission and raising funds for the ACS’s research, education, advocacy, and community service efforts.”
