Cherry Hill Public Schools aiming for Dec. 11 for bond referendum
Cherry Hill school officials are eyeing a new date for its upcoming bond referendum after the Cherry Hill Board of Education voted to postpone the upcoming vote from Oct. 2. Superintendent Joe Meloche said the district is anticipating holding the referendum on Dec. 11, the next special election date after Oct. 2. This comes after Meloche said the district received its preliminary eligible cost letters from the New Jersey Department of Education.
Team Tomatoes growing relationship with Cherry Hill Food Pantry
Team Tomatoes, a group of men and women from Bancroft with developmental disabilities, are forging a strong relationship with the Cherry Hill Food Pantry. For nearly a decade, Team Tomatoes has been volunteering at the food pantry by stocking shelves or loading clients’ cars with food. Last Monday, Team Tomatoes and the Cherry Hill Food Pantry worked side-by-side again, harvesting vegetables at Maggie’s Farm in Voorhees.
Expanded campus police, new Chinese class highlight changes in Cherry Hill schools for 2018–19
The 2018–19 school year in Cherry Hill Public Schools will kick off on Wednesday, Sept. 5 and numerous changes will be taking place within the school district this year. Meloche spoke to The Sun last week to discuss some of the changes coming to the schools. The changes include the expansion of the district’s campus police force, a new Mandarin Chinese curriculum at the high school and new administrators in a few buildings.
Cherry Hill Township introduces 2019 municipal budget
Cherry Hill residents will likely see no change in their municipal taxes again in 2019. Cherry Hill Township Council approved its Fiscal Year 2019 preliminary budget during its last meeting on Aug. 22. Mayor Chuck Cahn stated residents would not see a tax increase under the proposed budget. If approved at the public hearing on Friday, Sept. 21, it will be the seventh consecutive year residents won’t see a municipal tax increase.
‘Senior Prom’ gives Cherry Hill nursing home residents chance to relive high school
AristaCare at Cherry Hill gave its senior residents an opportunity to re-live a fun high school memory all over again. The facility hosted its own Senior Prom on Thursday, complete with gowns, food, music and dancing. The attendees even voted for a prom king and prom queen. A number of the residents at AristaCare spoke with The Sun about the event.
