Cherry Hill students to volunteer with Center for Environmental Transformation

CfET is hosting its ninth annual Thomas Berry lecture on Saturday, Sept. 15 at 2 p.m. at Sacred Heart Church in Camden.

The Center for Environmental Transformation is hosting its ninth annual Thomas Berry lecture on Saturday, Sept. 15 at 2 p.m. at Sacred Heart Church in Camden.

This year’s speaker is John Dear. Dear has worked for more than 30 years in non-violent actions for social and environmental justice. His newest book, “They Will Inherit the Earth: Peace and Nonviolence in a Time of Climate Change,” is a call to action for people to work across faiths, nationalities, and communities to save Earth. There will be a reception with Dear in the CfET gardens after the talk where he will sell his books and sign them.

At the event will be several student volunteers from Cherry Hill High School East. They will assist CfET with voter registration, assistance with and facilitation of the student and children’s announcements as part of the program, and attendance at both the talk and the reception. Cherry Hill students from Rutgers University and Villanova University will also be a part of the day.

Tickets are $20 per person and can be purchased by contacting Cathy Nevins at (856) 816–6373 or canevins@verizon.net. Sponsors can also reach out to support the event.
