Cherokee High School Boys Soccer holds food drive and restocks Wiley Food Pantry

The team collected food pantry items from their family members, friends and neighbors for one week from Aug. 17 through Aug. 24.

The Cherokee High School Boys Soccer Team recently held a food drive for the Wiley Food Pantry.

The team collected food pantry items from their family members, friends and neighbors for one week from Aug. 17 through Aug. 24.

After practice on Aug. 24, the team delivered the items to the Wiley Food Pantry, where they also restocked 54 empty bins that are distributed to 54 families in need in the local community.

Wiley Food Pantry gets many donations from residents, organizations and other larger food banks, but during the summer months, their donations nearly stop, so the pantry and less fortunate families are in great need.

Once the boys saw the empty pantry shelves and how quickly and easily they could change that by working together, they were hooked, and they knew they wanted to make this donation an annual event.
