Rowan University’s Dr. John Giannini to serve as guest speaker at WTHS athletics’ parent meeting on Monday, Aug. 27

Washington Township High School athletic director Kevin Murphy invites parents of Washington Township High School student-athletes to an informational meeting on the school’s athletic programs on Monday, Aug. 27 at 6:30 p.m., in the play house at WTHS (11/12 auditorium). Parents of student-athletes who are participants in fall sports are strongly encouraged to attend.

Dr. John Giannini, recently named founding director of the Center for Sports Communication and Social Impact at Rowan University, will serve as the guest speaker, focusing on the role of the parent in a competitive sports environment and the importance of sportsmanship.

Giannini served as head men’s basketball coach at Rowan University, the University of Maine and LaSalle University, amassing 505 victories over a 29-year head coaching career. He has been passionate about social impact initiatives and will be mentoring Rowan students enrolled in the University’s new Sports Communication and Media major.
