‘Emotional Balance’ discussion will be taking place on Sept. 13
The Adult Discussion Group was founded in 2010 in Hunterdon County with friends who wanted a safe, open and respectful space to have group discussions that explore an understanding about us, our relationships with others and the world around us. Co-Founder William Dorman moved to Medford recently and is organizing the discussion series locally.
The first discussion will be held on Thursday, Sept. 13 from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. in the conference room at the Pinelands Library located at 39 Allen Street in Medford.
The framework for topics is built around the Eight Dimensions of Wellness: emotional, social, financial, spiritual, intellectual, occupational, physical and environmental.
Southern Burlington County NAACP to host Law Enforcement Roundtable Aug. 16

“There is power in communication.”
That’s how Marcus Sibley, communications chair for the Southern Burlington County NAACP, described his organization’s upcoming Law Enforcement Roundtable scheduled for Aug. 16.
The event will take place during the organization’s next general meeting at Bethel A.M.E. Church in Moorestown, with the conversation focusing on local relations between police and black communities.
Sibley touched on often repeated topics concerning police relations with black communities, such as police using excessive force, the need for more training to help police de-escalate situations, departments that might not be hiring African Americans or officers who might be targeting individuals based on the color of their skin.
By inviting the law enforcement representatives to sit among members of the SBC NAACP and other residents, Sibley said his organization hopes to provide people of color with a forum where the discussion remains on the issues and their underlying causes, rather than focusing of people’s reaction to an issue once it’s already occurred.

Concerns within the community arise following updated animal regulations
Shamong residents filled the municipal building at Tuesday night’s committee meeting with concerns regarding what residents called a “local puppy mill.”
Following multiple concerns from resident Ernest Lazos about a resident possessing 73 dogs and holding them in unfit living conditions, the township introduced and passed an ordinance on first reading updating animal regulations.
The ordinance references the limitations, operations and prohibitions of breeders, kennels, pet shops, pounds and animal shelters.
