Mayor’s Message: Police swearing-in, Washington Township application and summer events in the park

The weekly message from Mayor Joann Gattinelli

Special to The Sun: Mayor Joann Gattinelli stands with Officer Andrew Psillakis, Chief Pat Gurcsik and Business Administrator Jason Gonter at Officer Psillakis’ swearing-in ceremony

Police swearing-in

On July 12 I was honored to swear-in Washington Township’s newest patrolman, Officer Andrew Psillakis. Officer Psillakis was joined by his family and friends, along with Chief Gurcsik, were there in support of this young officer’s ceremony. I believe Officer Psillakis is going to prove to be an excellent addition to the Washington Township police force. I was happy to be a part of this ceremony to welcome Officer Psillakis and I wish him much success in his newly appointed position.

Washington Township application

I would like to remind the residents of Washington Township that we now have a Washington Township mobile application for your smartphones. You only need to go to the App Store or Google Play to download the application. On this application you will find upcoming events, recent news, Shop Washington Township participants, Washington Township Saves Lives and more. Under the news category you can find articles from The Washington Township Sun, posts from our social media, as well as the Fire Department’s social media posts. I hope you all take advantage of this opportunity as this application has everything you need to know all in one convenient place!

Events in the park

I would like to take this opportunity to announce some upcoming events in Washington Lake Park. As many of you may know, we have been hosting Movies in the Park and Concerts in the Park during the summer months. There are still more movies and concerts scheduled so make sure you check the Township website under the Events tab. Another upcoming event in the park is National Night Out sponsored by the Washington Township Police Department on August 7 at 7 p.m.. I am happy to report for the first time, Washington Township will be hosting a Craft Beer Festival that will take place on September 30. Not only will there be beer to enjoy, but the Eagles versus the Tennessee Titans football game will be streamed live at the Washington Lake Park Amphitheater. If that was not enough, we will be hosting our 2nd Annual Food Truck and Musical Festival on October 20. For more information on all of our other Township events, visit our website at www.TownshipNJ.com and click on the Events tab. I look forward to seeing everyone at the park for these fun-filled events!

Joann Gattinelli is the Mayor of Washington Township. She can be reached at [email protected].
