Cops and Bobbers
On June 7, I was pleased to attend the Cops and Bobbers event that was hosted by the Washington Township Police Department. This organized event was held every Thursday night in June from 6 to 8:00 p.m.. I was pleased to see such a large turnout for this event. It is always nice to see the residents interacting with our first responders. Chief Gurcsik has made a huge effort to put community events such as this one, in place. These community gatherings are a great way for the residents to meet some of the officers and for the officers to get to know our residents better. I look forward to attending more of the Police Department’s community events in the future.
Fun-filled Saturday
Saturday, June 9 was a fun day for all in Washington Township. I enjoyed attending all of the events offered to the public. I stopped by our Shred Day event held in the Washington Township Municipal Building parking lot. I was pleased to see so many residents taking advantage of our Shred Day services.
I would like to thank Chief Gurcsik, along with the rest of the Police Department for hosting the Bike Rodeo at Washington Lake Park. I was happy to see a nice crowd of young children learning bike safety. The police officers demonstrated how to secure their bike helmets and observe other safety rules.
While also in Washington Lake Park, I stopped by the fire pit for the Flag Burning Ceremony. All were welcome to bring non-serviceable American flags for proper flag disposal. This year’s event was organized by the Veterans Affairs Advisory Board Sponsoring the Township Venturing Crew. I would like to thank the Board members for their efforts in organizing this event.
I also stopped by to support Nicole Lannutti’s initiative to raise money for Alex’s Lemonade Stand. The goal was to raise money against childhood cancer and specifically for a young resident who is a hometown hero for us all. I would like to thank Nicole for hosting this event at her store, The Craft Room in Bunker Hill Plaza. They were able to raise $315 towards this cause. Finally, I was happy to stop by the Olde Stone House Village for the Community Yard Sale, hosted by the Washington Township Historical Preservation Commission. I would like to thank all of the members for their time and efforts into making this event a success. There were many individuals present who enjoyed the atmosphere, as well as the items that were for sale.
