These local ShopRite Stores raised money for Special Olympics New Jersey

Cashiers at ShopRite stores owned and operated by the Ravitz family collected donations at the register during the month of May.

Associates at five South Jersey ShopRite stores raised $15,371 in May for Special Olympics New Jersey.

Cashiers at ShopRite stores owned and operated by the Ravitz family collected donations at the register during the month of May to support Special Olympics New Jersey. The 2018 summer games took place June 8 through June 10 at The College of New Jersey.

Through its Ravitz Family Market Cares Committee, Ravitz Family Markets and its ShopRite stores in Burlington and Camden counties raise money each month for different charitable organizations. Those same stores raised money in June for Operation Yellow Ribbon in South Jersey, an organization that sends support and supplies to troops serving overseas.

Local charitable organizations that wish to be considered for support can contact the Cares Committee by reaching out through the stores.

Participating ShopRite stores include the ShopRite of Marlton, ShopRite of Evesham Road, ShopRite of Garden State Pavilion, ShopRite of Mt. Laurel and the ShopRite of Union Mill Road.

The Cares Committee was created 12 years ago when the Ravitz family asked store associates what charities they wanted the company to support. The Cares Committee nominates eligible charities and employees vote on the charities they wish to support.

Each month, store associates collect customer donations at checkout, with more than $1 million raised for dozens of charities since the Cares Committee was first created in 2006.

Just a few of the organizations benefitting from ShopRite’s fundraising include the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia Foundation, the Ronald McDonald House and the Camden County Animal Shelter.
