Scholarships were awarded to Katherine Cunningham and Catherine Jewett.
AAUW Medford annually awards a scholarship to a female resident of Burlington County, who is a non-traditional student. Enrolled in an undergraduate degree program, she might be someone whose family obligations required an interruption of several years prior to resuming a college program, or someone who waited until later in life to start college. Two scholarships have been awarded in 2018.
A scholarship was awarded to Katherine Cunningham, who, as the wife of a military husband, experienced frequent relocations and worked at multiple jobs before recognizing she was destined for a career in STEM. Cunningham is currently a student at Rowan College at Burlington County and is studying to become a mechanical engineer.
Also awarded a scholarship was Catherine Jewett of Mount Laurel, who dreams of becoming an art educator. Jewett previously travelled the country as a musician and now is prioritizing her education, also at Rowan College at Burlington County, while working part time and interning at the Alice Paul Institute.
Covering Medford and surrounding communities, AAUW Medford is made up of a diverse group of members who are passionate about helping other women and girls to be successful by promoting scholarship, education, information sharing and fellowship.
