The Camden County Department of Public Works will be repairing the Grove Street Bridge as well as the Cuthbert Boulevard Bridge leading over the Cooper River this summer.
A pair of construction projects is slated for Cherry Hill this summer as part of Camden County’s scheduled roadway improvement projects.
The Camden County Department of Public Works is scheduled to make major repairs to two bridges near Cooper River. Work will take place on the Grove Street Bridge as well as the Cuthbert Boulevard Bridge. County officials say the two bridges were built in 1931 and 1939, respectively, and will be repainted and repaired in order to extend each bridge’s service life.
“We are working to ensure that these heavily trafficked bridges and nearby roadways can continue to serve county motorists for years and years to come, as they have since the first half of the twentieth century,” Camden County Freeholder Susan Shin Angulo said. “With proper care and maintenance, we will be able to rely on these roadways as a hub for commuting and commerce.”
The exact timing of these and all of the county’s projects for this summer will be determined by the weather and other factors.
“We appreciate the patience and understanding of motorists and county residents for any inconvenience they may experience due to traffic delays or detours which will be posted as a result of these improvement projects,” Shin Angulo said. “We will be updating motorists and residents in each town prior to the individual projects beginning.”
