Alex Miller, a student at Olson Middle School, was selected as a middle infielder for the 13u Northeast American team.
The USSSA All-American Games announced their player selections via Facebook live on Memorial Day and there was great news for Alex Miller of Tabernacle. Miller was among just 26 thirteen-year-olds selected for the Northeast American and National teams. Tryouts were held in May for players from Maine to Virginia and Miller, an eighth grader at Olson Middle School, was selected as a middle infielder for the 13u Northeast American team.
“I’m so excited and honored to be selected to play at the All-American Games” said Miller, who plays softball for the Jersey Intensity South. She also pitched every inning for the 7–1 Olson Middle School Tigers collecting 101 strikeouts in 44 innings while hitting .671 with 5 home runs. Miller has played softball since the age of 5 and will be headed to Seneca High School in the fall. She joined the Jersey Intensity South in October 2016 where she elevated her skills and refined her talents under coaches Joe Moore, Dan Murphy, John Cali and Tracy Moore as well as private coach Michelle Schlichtig-Hastings.
Miller excels in the classroom and in the community, as well as on the softball field. She was co-captain of the Olson Soccer team and captain of the Cheerleaders. She also is the student council treasurer and a member of OAL, Olson, Academic Leaders.
