Parks and Recreation to use an LED screen to show movies in the park
The Washington Township Parks and Recreation Department made some upgrades to their summer movies in the park in an effort to bring more members of the community together.
The first movie in the park will be “Despicable Me 3" at the Washington Lake Park Amphitheater on Friday, June 8. In year’s past the movie would start after dark. With the late start attendance wasn’t at its peak because parents wouldn’t want to be out too late.
That all changes this year as the Parks and Recreation Department has contracted an LED screen to allow the movies to start earlier in the evening. The start time for the movie’s in the park will be moved up to 7 p.m.
“The earlier start time will be easier for parents of young children to come out to see a movie,” Park manager and events coordinator Lisa Collins said. “They can have fun and still be home at a reasonable time for bed.”
Collins added that there will be refreshments such as ice cream and water ice for sale at the movies in the park event.
