Mt. Laurel Police Department K-9 unit achieves national certification in narcotics detection

The Mt. Laurel Township Police Department has announced that its K-9 unit has achieved national certification in narcotics detection from the United States Police Canine Association (USPCA). Cpl. Chris O’Prandy and K-9 Gunner, as well as Officer Wilmer Santiago and K-9 Nina, participated in the USPCA National Detector Dog Trials at Stockton University from May 20 through May 23.
Mt. Laurel resident celebrates 110th birthday at local healthcare center
The year 1908 saw the birth of Sun Choe, Mt. Laurel’s newest supercentenarian. Born May 28, 1908, in what is now South Korea, Choe publicly celebrated her 110th birthday a few days early this year on May 24 when the Laurel Brook Rehabilitation & Healthcare Center hosted a special party to honor her long and healthy life.

Officials with the Mt. Laurel Municipal Utilities Authority have announced that Hartford Road will be closed between Route 38 and Union Mill Road until further notice. According to officials, problems with some system valves at a nearby sewage pump station caused another leak on the old sanitary sewer pipe in Hartford Road.
Burlington County promotes Saturday farmers markets at Burlington County Agricultural Center
With spring in full swing and summer right around the corner, the Burlington County Board of Chosen Freeholders is encouraging residents to shop local this summer for Jersey Fresh fruits and vegetables. Burlington County Freeholder Deputy Director Linda Hughes has announced that weekly Farmers Markets are back for a new season, to be held every Saturday 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. from now through October at the Burlington County Agricultural Center in Moorestown.
Lenape Regional High School District Teacher of the Year receives Princeton University award
Christene Willitts, a special education teacher at Lenape High School, is one of four secondary school teachers awarded this year by Princeton University’s Program in Teacher Preparation. According to district officials, this annual selection recognizes the accomplishments of public and private school teachers throughout the state.
