East boys tennis falls short in sectional finals

The Cougars lost a tight match, 3–2, to Lenape High School on Monday afternoon.

Cherry Hill High School East boys tennis came up on the short end of a tight South Jersey Group IV championship match against Lenape High School. The Cougars lost to the Indians, 3–2, at Moorestown Tennis Club.

The match came down to first singles as Adam Yu of Cherry Hill East played a tough match against Lenape High School’s Jack Lavin. The match went to a third set, where Lavin pulled away to win 6–4 3–6 6–3.

The Cougars earned their two points at second singles and second doubles. At second singles, Kevin Hu of Cherry Hill East won easily, 6–0 6–3. The second doubles pairing of Arnav Gupta and Max Sobel won their match, 6–3 6–4. Cherry Hill East’s Jeffrey Xi lost in third singles, while the first doubles pairing of Elan Boyarsky and Jacob Singer had to retire in the first set after Singer suffered an injury.
