U.S. Department of State recognizes Burlington County Clerk’s Office for passport services

The Clerk’s Office has once again received national recognition from the U.S. Department of State’s National Passport Center.

Burlington County Clerk Tim Tyler has announced that the Burlington County Clerk’s Office has once again received national recognition from the U.S. Department of State’s National Passport Center for their exemplary passport services.

Following a recent performance review by the federal agency, the officials said the Clerk’s Office in Mt. Holly was awarded with a perfect score.

“Providing customer service at the highest level is a hallmark of the Burlington County Clerk’s Office. I am so proud of our hard-working employees who deserve to be recognized for always going above and beyond to ensure every resident has a pleasant experience when they come to our office,” Tyler said. “Whether someone is applying for a passport or in need of another service we offer, I want the community to think of us as always being accessible and efficient.”

The Clerk’s Office underwent a biennial Acceptance Facility Oversight Visit, which officials said focuses on protecting the integrity of the passport issuance process.

According to officials, passport acceptance facilities are evaluated on criteria including one-on-one interviews, inspections of the workplace and security procedures, and real time observation of accepting passport applications from the public.

Officials said the federal auditors found the office to be in full compliance with federal regulations, knowledgeable, “extremely well organized” and “provides outstanding customer service”. The National Passport Center presented the Clerk’s Office with a 2017 Certificate of Achievement, and in their newsletter this spring listed the office among a small group nationwide to earn top honors.

According to officials, the Clerk’s Office has now received high praise for two consecutive years, as the “County Corner” satellite clerk’s office at the Moorestown Mall also received a perfect score in 2016.

“I hope Burlington County residents will continue to look no further than the Clerk’s Office for all their passport needs,” Tyler said.

According to officials, The Clerk’s Office in Mt. Holly processed 1,031 new passport applications in 2017, and the County Corner handled 10,190 in 2016. Residents can utilize either office to apply for or renew their passport as well as have their passport photo taken. Recognizing the popularity of the County Corner, Tyler recently extended the lease at the Moorestown Mall through June 2020 as an added convenience for residents.

The County Clerk’s main office in Mt. Holly is open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., and the County Corner is open Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., and on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
