The flood watch will be in effect from 6 p.m. this evening until 6 a.m. Saturday morning.
The National Weather Service has issued an areal flood watch as more heavy rain is expected to hit the Medford region over the next couple of days. The flood watch will be in effect from 6 p.m. Thursday evening until 6 a.m. Saturday morning.
Period of light to moderate rain will continue throughout Thursday, with heavier rain moving into the area Thursday night. On Friday, periods of moderate to heavy rain will fall. The rain may continue into the weekend.
General rainfall amounts of two to four inches are expected over the next three days and locally higher amounts of more than five inches are possible in areas hit by slow-moving thunderstorms.
The rain could cause low-lying and poor drainage flooding, as well as flash flooding if thunderstorms repeatedly move over the same locations. Several
days of excessive runoff will eventually lead to a risk of flooding in larger streams and rivers though the extent of the flooding will depend on where the heaviest rain falls.
