The Rowan College at Burlington County Foundation has elected longtime member Henry Gosik as the foundation’s new chair.
The Rowan College at Burlington County (RCBC) Foundation has elected longtime member Henry Gosik as the foundation’s new chair.
Officials say the nonprofit, which helps students afford education, seeks to build upon the momentum created by this year’s Celebration of Philanthropy, which broke fundraising records.
“As a former RCBC trustee, and someone who put herself through college, I know how hard our students work in and outside of the classroom to afford their education,” Burlington County Freeholder Director Kate Gibbs said. “I know that the Freeholder Board and RCBC will continue our work to keep college affordable; however, there will always be students who need extra assistance. I am so grateful for the entire Foundation Board, who help support our students, and look forward to Henry Gosik’s leadership.”
According to officials, Gosik, a community college graduate, built the business Sensational Host into one of South Jersey’s largest caterers, along with the help of his wife, Karen, their son Cory and daughter Emily. Gosik has served as an RCBC Foundation Trustee since 2012.
“I look forward to working with our trustees and donors to continue to move the Foundation forward and help more students achieve their dreams through excellent and affordable education at Rowan College at Burlington County,” Gosik said.
In February, the foundation’s marquee event raised a record $250,000 to go toward student scholarships. For the first time, the event was held in the new Student Success Center and was presented by Republic Bank.
“From his own experience, Henry Gosik understands the important role Rowan College at Burlington County plays in transforming lives and empowering students toward their greatest success,” RCBC Acting President Michael Cioce said. “I look forward to working with Henry and all of our Foundation trustees and donors to help more students afford education.”
After two years as chair, Tony Mahon stepped down as chair, but officials say he remains an active member of the Foundation. Mahon’s father, the late Bruce A. Mahon, was instrumental in founding the college as a Burlington County Freeholder.
“Rowan College at Burlington County is very special to my family and I couldn’t be happier to welcome Henry Gosik as chair,” Mahon said. “I’ve been privileged to work alongside Henry for six years and we have already begun working toward surpassing our record at the next Celebration of Philanthropy.”
