Organizers are looking to continue success from first season
The Palmyra Farmer’s Market is returning Thursday, May 24, after debuting last year.
It will run every Thursday through the summer from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. in Grove Park near the band shell and feature a rotating cast of food trucks, produce stands, food vendors and live music.
Borough Councilwoman Mindie Weiner, who helps organize the event, said those involved in the market are looking to build upon a successful first season.
“I think that we’re just looking to be a little bit bigger and offer more variety,” she said.
Weiner said the borough has received a positive response from vendors who participated last year.
“Our vendors really, really liked it,” she said. “They all just praised our town. They said it was less of a farmer’s market and more of a family, community picnic.”
Weiner said the idea behind the event was just to bring the town together.
“We really just wanted to do something for the community,” she said. “We just totally lucked out with our vendors. All of our vendors were just so cool.”
In addition to vendors, the market features a community table each week to put a spotlight on a local organization in town, Weiner said.
Weiner said organizers are hoping to continue the market through September, but planned construction at Grove Park in the fall could force the event to stop earlier.
As previously reported by The Sun, the borough received a $115,000 grant from the Burlington County Municipal Park Development Program to revamp the park.
