Recently Freeholder Heather Simmons, liaison to the Department of Economic Development and Public Works, attended the open house event at Between the Lines, a new start-up business located in Sewell.
Freeholder Director Robert M. Damminger said, “Literacy, language and life skills are all true equalizers in today’s world. Between the Lines provides an individualized tutor and learning center where children can gain these skills through personalized education and be able to go one to succeed in their futures.”
“’Between the Lines is a wonderful addition to the county’s current educational system,” Freeholder Simmons said. “By offering inclusive and personalized learning environments for all types of children, they are ensuring the academic success of any and all students that come through their doors.”
Dr. Elise Wajid, owner of Between the Lines, is a reading specialist in public education. In 2011, Wajid made the decision to pursue an educational doctoral degree with a specialization in reading and literacy, and actively worked to create a space where children could have their literacy and language needs met in a manner that was highly individualized and personalized to match their precise learning profile. Between the Lines is selectively staffed with reading specialists, speech/language pathologists, Wilson certified special education teachers, and a licensed clinical social worker as well as a school psychologist and learning consultant able to provide additional evaluations by parent or school request.
