The Shoppes and Residences at Renaissance Square announces Evesham Mortgage as next major tenant

Evesham Mortgage had signed a lease to occupy 12,753 square feet of retail space at the site.

One of Evesham’s biggest redevelopment projects keeps moving forward, as business officials have announced another major tenant for The Shoppes and Residences at Renaissance Square.

RD Management, owner of the shopping center, announced this week that Evesham Mortgage had signed a lease to occupy 12,753 square feet of retail space at the site.

The news makes Evesham Mortgage one of the larger tenants announced for the site, where construction still continues.

In addition to Evesham Mortgage, other retail businesses already announced include Gaetano’s Pizzeria & Cheesesteaks, Pink Petal Mani Pedi, Dunkin’ Donuts, Hair Cuttery, La Scala Italian Restaurant and La Vez Mexican Restaurant.

Already at the site is a TD Bank that existed before construction began, along with the site’s anchor tenant — a medical facility owned by Virtua Medical Group that opened in the late summer of 2017 and occupies 32,568 square feet.

Virtua’s services at the site include medical and surgical practices for primary care, pulmonary care, as well as physical therapy and laboratory services.

In announcing the addition of Evesham Mortgage to the site, Richard Birdoff, principal and president of RD Management, said the company would continue the center’s mixed-use theme by adding another service for local residents.

“As we make progress in this major redevelopment, it’s exciting to receive positive feedback both from businesses who want to set up shop here and residents who can’t wait to visit with us and take advantage of the center’s great offerings, including dining options,” Birdoff said.

Evesham Mortgage is expected to move from its current location at the nearby Plaza 70 shopping center sometime this summer.

Rick Brown, president and CEO of Evesham Mortgage, said the move to a modern office at The Shoppes and Residences at Renaissance Square would enable his business to enhance the “access to quality mortgage products” for the southern New Jersey community.

For those longtime Marlton residents who still might not be used to the “Renaissance Square” name, The Shoppes and Residences at Renaissance Square is the $70 million mixed-used redevelopment project along Route 70 that has replaced the township’s former Tri-Towne Plaza.

Although Tri-Towne opened in 1975 and was a staple shopping center of the township for decades, over the years stores came and went from the center, eventually losing one anchor store, a former K-Mart turned SearsEssentail, in 2010, and its other anchor, SuperFresh, in early 2013.

Much to the ire of residents and township officials, the center then sat mostly vacant and unkempt for several years until current redevelopment plans were announced in October 2014.

In addition to the new retail already announced for the site, redevelopment plans also include the potential for 338 luxury apartment units, additional retail, restaurants and the creation of an open space park with jogging paths, walkways and a pond at the existing state right-of-way buffer between the center and Route 70.

Once complete, the retail, apartments and park are estimated to encompass 583,858 square feet.

Officials with RD Management say business tenants of the center will also be able to use sign panels on a newly proposed pylon sign along Route 70, which officials estimate will be viewed by more than 37,000 cars a day.
